NFL Insider Proposes Wild Trade Scenario for Kenny Pickett
Steelers Now Steelers Now

Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports floated a wild trade scenario during a recent appearance on 93.2 The Fan. With the Cleveland Browns having an uncertain quarterback situation, she thinks Cleveland should give the Philadelphia Eagles a call and trade for Kenny Pickett.

Kinkhabwala believes Pickett was set up for failure in Pittsburgh due to playing in Matt Canada’s offense. In the right situation, she believes he could flourish.

“You can’t just look at his stats in a vacuum,” Kinkhabwala said. “The two years that Kenny Pickett had in Pittsburgh were, arguably, the most dysfunctional offense that I’ve ever been around… in 15 years of covering the NFL.”

With playing behind Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts, Kenny Pickett has no hope to start in Philadelphia, unless there’s an injury. He seems pretty content with being a backup for now, so I doubt that he wants out of Philly.

But if the Browns are in desperate need for a quarterback, they could call Philadelphia for Pickett’s services. It certainly would be a wild scenario if Pickett returns to the AFC North and squares off against the Steelers twice a year.

Just about all veteran QB options have been mentioned as possibilities for the #Browns this offseason

The defensive line created havoc for the Kansas City Chiefs all game, recording six sacks on star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Pickett entered the game late and handed the ball off a few times and attempted one pass. Nothing earth-shattering happened, but Pickett got the chance to close out the game for the team that he grew up cheering for in Ocean Township, New Jersey. Pickett now can claim that he’s a Super Bowl champion, a feat that is not easy to obtain.

This time a year ago, Kenny Pickett did not see himself where he stands today. Pickett, who was the first-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022, was the Steelers’ starting quarterback 365 days ago.

When the Steelers needed a quarterback after Ben Roethlisberger retired at the end of the 2021 season, Pickett just so happened to be in the draft pool, and he was unexpectedly available to the Steelers at pick No. 20, after some other interested teams passed.

It was a storybook script, especially for the oft-heartless NFL. Pickett would stay in his adopted home of Pittsburgh. The Steelers, after passing on Dan Marino in 1983, would keep the next great Pitt quarterback in town.

None of it worked out according to plan. The Steelers saddled Pickett with a failure of an offensive coordinator in Matt Canada, and despite his status as a veteran college player with...
