The rookie quarterback class in the NFL is getting an extra member as Brendan Sorsby is set to be picked in the NFL Supplemental Draft in July. Sorsby was originally scheduled to play for Texas Tech this fall under a massive NIL deal, but a scandal around his gambling history has forced him to go pro.
Now, after a drawn-out legal process surrounding his eligibility in college football, all eyes are turning to which NFL teams would take a chance on the talented signal-caller in the supplemental draft. On top of that, what price are they willing to pay for someone with his history?
NFL insider Tom Pelissero cast a wide net for Sorsby’s potential suitors, citing that any team without a star player at the position should at least look into it.

“Any team that does not have a long-term, clear answer at the position has to consider it,” Pelissero said on The Jim Rome Show. “Anybody who doesn’t have a Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow-caliber player, you have to dig into this and see.”
Sorsby is a very talented player, one that could have gone in the first three rounds if he had declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. Even in a loaded draft class next fall, the former Cincinnati star had a chance to be a first-rounder, so it’s clear that he has been on the radar of scouts and evaluators for some time.
Which teams might go after him is another question. Teams that are supposed to be bad and don’t have quarterbacks, such as the Jets or maybe the Browns, could have one eye towards that 2027 NFL Draft with Arch Manning and Dante Moore at the top. Other teams, such as the Cardinals, have spent valuable draft capital on quarterbacks in recent drafts.
Still, a team is likely to pick up Sorsby in the supplemental draft given his ability. Whether that ends up costing a third-round pick or a day three pick remains to be seen, but it will be one of the biggest stories around the league in the coming months.
