Shedeur Sanders is a fourth-string quarterback.
The Cleveland Browns’ first unofficial depth chart gave insight into where each quarterback on the team is currently. He is followed by Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Sanders in the four-man race.
Sanders was once projected to be a first-round draft pick, with some analysts even declaring him the best quarterback in the 2025 class. However, he fell before the Browns drafted him in the fifth round.
By the time Sanders was taken, five other quarterbacks had already been selected. That included Gabriel.
Not everyone sees Shedeur Sanders in a bad spot on the depth chart.
In a recent segment on ESPN’s “Unsportsmanlike” radio show, analyst Evan Cohen boldly claimed Shedeur is in a great spot.
Cohen offered a different take, calling the move “actually really good news” for Sanders and arguing that it could signal a strategic investment in his long-term future.

Cohen framed the listing as not a demotion but a developmental tactic.
“Kenny Pickett is currently hurt. Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur had that shoulder injury. But I took this yesterday, guys, as actually really good news for Shedeur Sanders,” Cohen said.
Cohen suggested that the Browns may be deliberately challenging Sanders.
“They’re not handing him anything,” Cohen continued.
“He’s in essence the second string because the other two guys ahead of him are hurt anyway… They could have easily listed him as a second string. But it’s probably more of a ‘You’re fourth string, you’re lucky these two guys are hurt. Keep working, keep doing the right things.’”
“They seem to be putting him through the wringer a little bit… I kind of like this for Shedeur.”
The Cleveland Browns have added yet another notable name to their quarterback room.
The only healthy quarterback on the Browns’ current roster is 40-year-old Joe Flacco.
With injuries at the position mounting, the Browns have signed former Pro Bowl quarterback Tyler Huntley.
The 27-year-old spent last training camp with Cleveland before failing to make the 53-man roster for the season.
This is not the best news for Shedeur Sanders, who is trying to fight his way up from fourth on the depth chart.
