An AFC general manager believes the Philadelphia Eagles will eventually trade wide receiver A.J. Brown amid the drama swirling around the team.
The prediction comes amid mounting tension between Brown and the struggling Eagles offense. On Friday, Brown denied he had a meeting with Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley after being asked about it following Thursday night’s upset loss to the New York Giants. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported earlier in the week the trio had a private meeting that lasted an hour.
“Just to clear this up. That wasn’t a meeting or a sit-down,” Brown posted on X. “I said ‘I don’t recall’ because it got painted like there was tension and Sa had to step in. That’s not true. I was walking to my car, saw them, and stopped to talk. Nothing more.”

The controversy follows Brown’s cryptic Biblical social media post after Philadelphia’s Week 4 win over Tampa Bay, a game in which he had just two catches for seven yards.
“If you’re not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way,” it read.
Brown and Philadelphia’s offense have struggled under new coordinator Kevin Patullo. Through six games, Brown has 25 receptions for 274 yards and one touchdown. He has one 100-yard game and two games with eight yards or fewer.
The offense ranks 29th in total yards, 28th in passing and 26th in rushing yards per game. With back-to-back losses dropping the Eagles to 4-2, teams around the league are watching closely if Brown will be traded.
“The Eagles will continue to insist they have no plans to trade Brown, their star receiver. But every week that passes with problems piling up makes decision-makers around the league wonder,” The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports. “One league source told me: ‘Brown doesn’t look frustrated or mad — he looks indifferent. And that’s not a good place to be.’ A GM in the AFC said, ‘I think Howie (Roseman) moves him. It would have to be for the right player or pick, but (a trade) wouldn’t surprise me. Howie likes deals, especially if a player’s value overrides how Brown is being used.’
“Most teams anticipate the asking price to be steep. Expect more calls as we near November.”
A trade would be surprising given Brown’s contract and production. He signed a three-year, $96 million extension in April 2024 that runs through 2029. Any move would most likely come after the season.
Since arriving in a 2022 draft-day trade, Brown has been a two-time Pro Bowler, three-time Second-Team All-Pro and Super Bowl champion who has caught 286...
