Football fans had plenty of interesting reactions to a viral clip of Steve Spagnuolo’s interaction with Joe Burrow during the Kansas City Chiefs-Cincinnati Bengals Week 2 game from last September.

Season two of Netflix’s “Quarterback” documentary was released on Tuesday. The series follows Joe Burrow, Kirk Cousins (Atlanta Falcons) and Jared Goff (Detroit Lions) during the 2024 season.

A clip from the series featured Burrow talking to the Chiefs’ defensive coordinator after Kansas City won 26-25 in their Week 2 showdown thanks to a last-second Harrison Butker field goal at Arrowhead Stadium.

Spagnuolo goes over to Joe Burrow and tells him, “Hey, other than that guy (Patrick Mahomes), you’re the best in the business.”

Football fans had mixed reactions to Spagnuolo’s comment to Burrow. Some thought it was tremendous praise from the legendary DC, but others thought it was “disrespectful” to the Bengals star:

“Funny cause he can’t even beat this other guy in his division named Lamar. Lamar >> AFC Jared Goff and it’s not close,” one user said.

“That’s kinda funny by Spags lol, who wants to be told they are 2nd best after a terrible loss. In my opinion it’s a pretty big compliment though,” a user said.

Burrow has certainly been a problem for Spagnuolo, winning the first three head-to-head meetings, including the 2021 AFC Championship Game. The Chiefs finally beat Burrow for the first time in the 2022 AFC title game, and Burrow was still excellent in last year’s regular-season defeat (23-of-36 for 258 yards, two touchdowns and no picks).
