Many see Travis Hunter’s greatness at 2 positions, Browns GM Andrew Berry says team sees one over the other
While most of the conversation around the NFL draft is about what will happen with the top two quarterback prospects, the Cleveland Browns do not seem set to surely select one. While it may be likely that a QB goes off the board with both of the first two picks, this year’s draft also has a couple of talented players who could take those spots.
DE Abdul Carter is an impact player at defensive end who could mirror the impact of Micah Parsons, the most recent edge rusher out of Penn State. CB/WR Travis Hunter, on the other hand, is someone who doesn’t have a comparable player in recent NFL history.
The ability to play both ways has been rarely done in the NFL and, when it has, hasn’t been a true two-way player like Hunter was at Colorado.
According to Browns GM Andrew Berry, Hunter is great at both but they see him as a quarterback first. Berry notes Hunter’s ball skills as the primary reason why:
Later, Berry talked about why receiver would be where they see Hunter:
The last time a wide receiver was selected second overall was Calvin Johnson in 2007. While “Megatron” was a unique prospect given his size, strength and speed, Hunter is unique in his own right.
Does the Browns stance on Hunter’s position change your thoughts on the team selecting him with the second overall pick?
