Analyzing Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders as a potential draft pick for Cleveland

The Cleveland Browns desperately need to add talent and playmaking ability to the quarterback room this offseason, and this year’s NFL Draft class is loaded with options within the first three rounds for the team to choose from.

The Browns are expected to purge the quarterback room this offseason and add some new faces via both free agency and the draft. They could ultimately choose to attack it in a couple different ways, but selecting a quarterback at some point in April is all but guaranteed.

Shedeur Sanders is a player who could be on the Browns’ radar heading into draft weekend due to his pin-point accuracy, field vision, and timing.

What an Expert is Saying

“Shedeur Sanders projects best into a timing-based offense that optimizes his field vision as a passer and his ability to deliver accurate passes on time. When in rhythm, Sanders makes it look easy on the gridiron and can pick apart defenses methodically.

An offensive system that leans into that ability while encouraging him to mitigate some of his outside-of-structure moments stands the best chance to produce a quality starting quarterback. This is an NFL starter, likely on Day 1.” - Kyle Crabbs, The 33rd Team

Fit with the Browns

Sanders’ accuracy and timing are his best qualities and it just so happens to be what Kevin Stefanski requires at the quarterback position.

It’s no secret that Cleveland’s offensive identity is centered around having an effective run game, but in order to do so the passing game needs to be on-point when it comes to complementing the two. Having a player like Sanders operating within structure and the confines of the pocket could be the answer to the team’s biggest question going forward.

Browns Player Drafting Could Impact

Sanders would impact whatever veteran option(s) Cleveland decides to bring in this offseason. Sanders undoubtedly has the talent and mental capacity to be a starting QB in the NFL and it just depends on when he would get his opportunity to take over the starting role.

Priority

Extremely High.
