A popular draft analyst returns with his first mock draft in nearly two years, and he’s heard from sources about the Browns QB plan

Speculation has been running rampant that the Cleveland Browns are going to draft a quarterback with the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. We’ve seen plenty of mock drafts, reporting, and social content connecting the Browns to both Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward in recent weeks.

It also appears that the general mood of the fanbase is both excited and anxious by the idea of drafting one of those two QBs based on the community comment section of this site. Well, we now have one draft guru who apparently wants to kill that buzz based on what he is being told.

Todd McShay has returned to the draft scene in a big way with his new podcast, The McShay Show, as part of The Ringer. In his first mock draft in nearly two years, McShay has the Browns selecting Travis Hunter at two overall.

McShay made a very interesting statement regarding what he has heard by saying: “I’ve heard from multiple sources now, okay? Cleveland is they’re not pulling the trigger on a quarterback here at two. I’ve heard from multiple sources, the same multiple sources, that they don’t believe that this is the year to do that, that they’re not, they’re not a quarterback in this class away, if that makes sense? Had it been last year’s class, they feel really good, that they can kind of take off and run.”

He went on by adding, “In this scenario, I think Cleveland could take Travis Hunter, the cornerback and wide receiver, out of Colorado. I also want to say this: I’ve now heard from two different people that Kirk Cousins could be brought in on the cheap this offseason kind of as a stopgap. So with that in mind, and again, I’ll let you go. With that in mind, is Jackson Dart, is Tyler Shough, from a value standpoint, whether it’s sitting and waiting early in round two.”

The context added about the Browns is certainly interesting, and he may now be the first person I have heard talking about Shough as a potential fit for Cleveland. Draft season is officially here, and the Combine will fuel speculation starting next week.
