Aaron Rodgers might have inadvertently helped out the New England Patriots.

The 41-year-old quarterback appeared on the “Pat McAfee Show” and didn’t offer much substance about his future. He opened the door to retirement and chose to call out the New York Jets instead of going into detail about the teams reportedly pursuing him.

Rodgers’ comments provided intrigue for the 2025 NFL Draft. It was one that excited NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah.

“If Rodgers is out of the equation, it creates intrigue & movement,” Jeremiah posted on X on Thursday. “Will PIT take QB at 21? Do they trade up above NO? NYG vs CLE to trade above PIT for QB? Lot of wheels in motion & that will make it a fun night. Based on what AR said today, I’d be stoked if I’m Sanders or Dart.”

Jeremiah brought up the idea of either New York or Cleveland trading back into the first round. But what if one of the franchises is inspired to draft Sanders with their respective first-round pick? That’s what New England should root for since it opens the opportunity for the Patriots to draft either Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter.

Another scenario the Patriots should root for is a team like the Steelers trying to jump ahead to draft Sanders. If Carter or Hunter isn’t available, trading down would be a viable option. That’s why any positive news about Sanders would benefit New England greatly.

Opinions can easily change in a week, and the Patriots should hope that Rodgers’ comments end up benefiting them in the NFL draft.
