After mostly skipping Cam Ward’s Pro Day, Browns send the top brass for private Miami workout
The Cleveland Browns have not had a first-round pick in a few years and seem to be making up for it with the amount of unknown surrounding the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. At this point, many have expected the Tennessee Titans to select Miami QB Cam Ward while the Browns are left selecting from QB Shedeur Sanders, WR/CB Travis Hunter and DE Abdul Carter.
With the free-agent quarterback market weak and Kirk Cousins rumors continuing to swirl, Cleveland needs an answer at the most important position on the field.
Could Ward actually be available to the Browns?
After having minimal personnel at Ward’s Pro Day at Miami, especially compared to the Titans, Cleveland reportedly has the top of the organization in Coral Gables to privately work out Ward a few days later:
Zak Jackson of The Athletic has confirmed the workout.
With the NFL draft over a month away, the Browns have time to send as many people as they want down for this workout. Involving TE David Njoku, who filmed Ward seemingly excited about Cleveland earlier, also makes sense, given their Hurricane connection.
Ward is almost universally considered the top quarterback in this year’s NFL draft class, even if most believe that Hunter and Carter are better overall prospects.
A lot of questions still surround the top of this year’s draft. If Tennessee was locked in on Ward, why the rumors of a willingness to make a trade? If the Browns knew the Titans were taking Ward, why send everyone down? If Cleveland thinks Tennessee will pass on Ward, will they still try to trade up to make sure they get Ward or risk another team moving all the way up to the top spot?
What do you think about Berry and Haslam being a part of the private workout today with Ward? What is your guess about what happens at the top of the draft?
