The NFL is keen on avoiding a situation similar to the one involving DK Metcalf.

The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver received a two-game suspension after getting into an altercation with a Detroit Lions fan last Sunday. Metcalf was shown on camera grabbing the fan and then hitting out at him.

He appealed the league’s decision, but the suspension was upheld.

Metcalf remained in the game, while the fan was also allowed to stay after the Lions interviewed him. However, his actions remain under review in accordance with the NFL’s code of conduct.

The league is also reminding everyone attending games in Week 17 to observe 10 essential rules:

  • Behavior that is unruly, disruptive, threatening, or illegal in nature.
  • Intoxication or other signs of alcohol or substance impairment.
  • Foul or abusive language or obscene gestures.
  • Interference with the progress of the game (including throwing objects onto the field).
  • Failing to follow instructions of law enforcement, guest services, and security personnel.
  • Verbal or physical harassment of any fellow fans or staff.
  • Unreasonably obstructing the view of other patrons.
  • Offensive language or obscene gestures, to include the use of such language or gestures concerning a person’s race, ethnicity, color, gender, religion, creed, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or national origin; or to instigate, incite or encourage a confrontation or physical assault.
  • Any conduct deemed inappropriate or dangerous to fans, participants, or team members.
  • Conduct those results in damage to the stadium or other personal property.
