The Philadelphia Eagles took a big swing when they took Jalen Carter in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

While the talent was undeniable and the physical tools were mesmerizing, there were multiple red flags about his character, demeanor, and maturity.

Carter avoided trouble for most of his first two years in the league, but it took just seconds for him to lose his cool in the season opener.

Now, he could be fined and suspended for spitting on Dak Prescott:

“At the very least, Carter will face a substantial fine, and he could also be suspended, sources told ESPN. A decision by the NFL is expected Monday, according to sources, as the Eagles return to work and get ready for a Super Bowl rematch in Kansas City next Sunday against the Chiefs,” Schefter wrote.

His impact as a player simply cannot be overstated.

Not having him on the field in the season opener led to some uncharacteristic defensive struggles for Vic Fangio’s unit.

Given the way he acted, it’s hard to believe the league will look the other way and just give him a slap on the wrist; they will most likely make an example out of him.

The Eagles have to be all on the same page if they want to repeat as Super Bowl champions, and this was the last thing they needed.
