An argument over a Monday Night Football game between the 49ers and Colts led to a tragedy. A Florida man shot and killed his wife and shot his stepdaughter earlier this week over football. He would then take the coward’s way out and take his own life as well.

47-year-old Jason Kenney committed suicide hours after killing his wife, Crystal Kenney. It went down on December 22, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said at a press conference. The murder occurred when Crystal suggested that her husband turn off the game. San Francisco and Indianapolis were going head-to-head in a crucial matchup.

Authorities state that Kenney had been drinking. The fight would escalate to the point where Crystal prompted his wife to tell her 12-year-old son to call 911. That is when things got deadly.

Unfortunately, fights over football are all too common. An argument between an Eagles and Giants fan led to a deadly shooting in 2021. Neither family would ever be the same.

Jason Kenney Murders Wife Over 49ers-Colts Game

A 12-year-old boy will need a ton of therapy, likely for the remainder of his life. He was forced to run to a neighbor’s home when he heard gunshots. His mother and dad were arguing over Monday Night Football. The Colts were taking on the 49ers.

Responding deputies found Crystal Kenney deceased. They also found a 13-year-old girl who had been shot in the shoulder and face. She lived and is recovering in a hospital.

At one point, the teenager begged Kenney not to shoot her. “She said, ‘I begged him, don’t shoot me, don’t shoot me, don’t shoot me, and he shot me anyway,'” Judd said. The young boy did not get shot since he ran for help. The couple also had a 1-year-old daughter, who was home at the time of the shooting. She was also unharmed. The infant was found asleep in her crib.

Jason Kenney’s selfish behavior has now left three kids without parents. They will also have a lifetime of trauma. Before taking his life, Kenney fled and called his sister. He told her he had “done something” wrong and they wouldn’t ever speak again.

Kenney then drove to his dad’s home. That is where cops found him. He was still alive at the time. Deputies attempted to get him from a shed, but then he shot himself. A search of the home revealed even more disturbing findings. Crystal had previously written a note to her husband, urging him to seek help.

“You’re drinking, you’re using cocaine again,” Crystal wrote. This is not the way the family should be. You need God,” the note states, Judd said.

“The entire family was destroyed,” Judd said.

Those three children left behind are in the custody of their grandparents.
