Behind the Steel Curtain
The Pittsburgh Steelers have hit the ground running with their head coaching search. At the time of writing, they have requested interviews with six candidates, five of whom are defensive coordinators.
However, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky believes the Steelers should turn their attention to Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur
“The first step I would [take] is then call Matt LaFleur, if I was the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I would jump at the opportunity to hire him,” Orlovsky said. “Then I would figure out a way to get Malik Willis as my quarterback. And then, all of a sudden, I’m in a situation where Pittsburgh now becomes a little more relevant because this fits that quarterback void they have.”
There have been rumors of LaFleur and the Packers parting ways, as he is entering the final year of his contract and has gone one-and-done in the postseason in each of the last two seasons.
If the Packers were to move on from LaFleur, though, wouldn’t they have already done that? Because if they do it now, they put themselves behind the 8-ball, as the eight remaining vacancies have already begun the process of getting candidate interviews lined up and completed.
