The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers went into the game Sunday tied for the top spot in the NFC. With Tampa’s win, they are not the first-place team in the National Football Conference.
In the NFC South, the Carolina Panthers won on Sunday to stick two games behind the Bucs. The Atlanta Falcons play on Monday night again the Buffalo Bills and the New Orleans Saints lost.
All the results aren’t in yet — the Detroit Lions play on Sunday night along with the Falcons Monday — but no matter what happens in those games, Tampa Bay is going to top the standings heading into Week 7. Tampa Bay’s NFC record will be better than Detroit’s to keep the Buccaneers in front. Detroit and Tampa Bay play each other on October 20th.
The Eagles lost for the second straight week to go from first place to fourth place in the conference.
