Micah Parsons

The Cowboys are set to face Micah Parsons and the Packers in Week 4, reuniting them with the edge rusher after trading him away. Regarding owner Jerry Jones reportedly having a handshake deal with Parsons before negotiations deteriorated, one anonymous agent said any kind of personal agreement between Jones and Parsons was unjustified.

“We have — not exaggerating — probably 30 categories we use to evaluate a deal, whether it’s new money, old money, guarantee structure, whatever,” the agent said, via Todd Archer and Dan Graziano of ESPN. “That’s too many moving parts, and it takes more than a handshake.”

When speaking on the matter, Parsons said he thought Jones wanted to see where his mind was at regarding a deal, as opposed to hardline negotiating.

“Nah, obviously he wants to know where I’m at, what I think,” Parsons said. “I’m thinking he wants to know where I’m at with the process, and that’s what I thought. Obviously, none of that matters now. I’m here.”

Jones explained he likes to talk directly with players about contracts because agents often aren’t as connected to players over a long-term span.

“Those things that go over those years are treasures with those guys,” Jones said. “Their attorney or their agent isn’t necessarily anywhere to be found 10 years later. Not only that, sometimes they’re not even to be found because one guy in the agency has handed it off to another guy. So these guys that are sitting here with your Dallas Cowboys and the people that are out here putting it on the line and going to build memories that are a part of their legacies and their families for years and years, you can’t do that though an agency [or] through a third party. At least I can’t. … I want to be in the mix there.”

Cowboys

The Cowboys shocked the NFL world when they traded Micah Parsons to the Packers for two first-round picks and DT Kenny Clark. Dallas owner Jerry Jones said he wouldn’t be done making splash moves, saying he would consider dealing those picks for a “really special” player.

If I had the opportunity to really do some good with those picks, I would do it. We’ve got them and that’s one of the advantages to making the trade,” Jones said, via ProFootballTalk. “You’ve got to have something that comes your way that’s really special, and if you’ve got the currency to do it, which in this case would be draft picks, we’ll do it.”

Giants

Giants QB Russell Wilson said that he’s “not done” and pointed to his performance against Dallas as evidence. He added that he’s not going to ask for a trade and wants to help first-round QB Jaxson Dart as much as he can.

I’m focused on helping this team win,” Wilson said, via PFT. “*I’m focused on helping Jaxson. I want to be here. I love this organization, I love the process of it all. I...
