Zach Baun, Josh Sweat, Dyami Brown, Bobby Wagner all his NFL free agency this year
The Cleveland Browns sit home and ponder their next moves with NFL free agency happening before the NFL draft. Just four teams remain in the NFL playoffs with no urgency to focus on the offseason for those squads who kick off the conference championship games on Sunday.
While the Philadelphia Eagles enter Sunday as the favorites over the Washington Commanders, they also have a lot of interesting free agents that could interest teams like the Browns. The Commanders have a few veterans and one young player that Cleveland, and other teams, could try to swipe away but Washington has a load of cap space to use.
While we will focus most of our energy on NFL draft prospect profiles, the Browns could be active in NFL free agency as well. Here are six players (put together from our previous pieces on the NFL playoffs and NFL free agency), three from each team in the NFC Championship game, that Cleveland could try to sign this offseason:
Starting off strong here as Baun went from poorly used in New Orleans to first-team All-Pro with Philadelphia. The Eagles will likely try to lock Baun up but Cleveland should be interested.
A really interesting, versatile piece for the Philly defensive line, Williams mostly plays defensive tackle but can slide outside. He set a career high with five sacks this season along with 10 QB hits and seven tackles for loss.
A seven-year veteran, Sweat continues to rush the passer well with eight more sacks this year to run his total to 43 over the last six seasons.
If Cleveland wants a leader in the middle of their defense, Wagner provides that despite being 35 already. Tough to see him leaving Dan Quinn but he could be looking for another challenge.
This is an addition because we are so unsure of what is going on with Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Chinn can fill a similar role as JOK.
A third-round pick in 2021, Brown hasn’t had huge numbers but would help the Browns in a bigger role as their new slot receiver.
