The New York Jets are one of just six NFL teams that aren’t in action during Sunday’s Week 11 schedule. Of course, the Jets got their game out of the way earlier in the week, when the New England Patriots sent the Jets to 2-8 with a 27-14 defeat over the away team.
While the Jets aren’t playing on Sunday, their team is still in the news.
According to the New York Post, 29-year-old Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was shot in his abdomen in Midtown around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Boyd is “clinging to life” at Bellevue Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The shooting reportedly occurred on West 38th Street outside a club located in New York City.
Boyd, is currently on injured reserve after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury requiring surgery back in the preseason. He arrived as a seventh-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2019 NFL Draft. Boyd has played six NFL seasons, spending time in Minnesota, Arizona, Houston, and, most recently, New York.
He’s made six starts across 81 appearances, recording 105 tackles, three pass deflections, two forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and zero interceptions.
