The New York Jets were not a good football team in 2024. That’s not anything new for the franchise, but expectations were high with Aaron Rodgers under center and a solid roster on paper.
Nevertheless, they went an embarrassing 5-12 once again. But, according to linebacker Quinnen Williams, the Jets would’ve been much worse without Aaron Rodgers, as if you can be much worse than 5-12.
The Jets were a dumpster fire once again this year, and struggled on both sides of the ball at times. Aaron Rodgers wasn’t his old self after recovering from the torn Achilles he suffered in Week 1 of the 2023 season. That’s not to say he was bad. He wasn’t. He just wasn’t a difference maker.
Frankly, Quincy Williams himself didn’t have a great year. After grading out as one of the the linebackers in the league in 2023, Williams graded out as just a pretty good, but not elite, player in 2024 according to Pro Football Focus.
But, despite the relatively poor play of Rodgers, Williams, and their teammates, Williams claims that Aaron Rodgers actually elevated the New York Jets this year and made his teammates better.

This raises a question: if Aaron Rodgers made the Jets better, how bad were they without him? They went 5-12 this year. In 2023, he played just a few snaps, and they went 7-10.
There’s no evidence that Aaron Rodgers made the Jets better whatsoever. They were still the same old Jets, even if he was offering sage advice at practice.
Most don’t expect Aaron Rodgers to be back with the Jets in 2025, if he decides to come back and not retire. That might be for the best, as the Jets need to start looking towards the future with new head coach Aaron Glenn.
