On Sunday, just a few hours before Super Bowl LIX, it was reported that the New York Jets had informed controversial quarterback Aaron Rodgers that they would be moving in another direction, bringing to an end a miserable two-year tenure for the former Green Bay Packer. And with Rodgers leaving the Big Apple, that means his BFF Davante Adams likely will, to.
Despite the fact that the Jets were clearly terrible and weren’t going anywhere last season, they decided to further appease Aaron Rodgers anyway by trading for his pal Davante Adams, giving the Las Vegas Raiders a conditional 2025 third-round pick in return.
In 11 games with Gang Green in 2024, Davante Adams has had 67 catches for 854 yards and seven touchdowns, as Rodgers peppered him with targets. The attention that Adams got from Rodgers obviously impacted the output of fellow wide out Garrett Wilson, who went into the campaign as the team’s #1 pass catcher.
Now that Rodgers and likely Adams are on their way out of town, running back Breece Hall seems to be taking some parting shots on the way out, as he called Wilson, and not Adams, his WR #1 on social media.

Back in January, the New York Jets hired former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as the team’s new head coach. Glenn, who was drafted by the Jets in 1994 and was a two-time Pro Bowler with the team, is tasked with breaking a 14-year-long playoff drought, which is the longest active playoff drought in the four major American sports leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL).
If and when the Jets do move on from Rodgers, its unclear if the 41-year-old signal caller will retire or try to find another team willing to put up with his drama. Teams that NFL analysts have speculated could be open to bringing in Rodgers are the Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Cleveland Browns.
Wilson, meanwhile, had a career year last season, as he started in all 17 games (for the second straight season) and had 101 catches for 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns, all career highs. Despite the upheveal surrounding the Jets’ offense for the last few seasons (and decades, honestly), Wilson has had at least 1,000 yards in each of his first three campaigns, making him the first Jets wideout to ever acocmplish that statistical feat.
