Justin Fields was supposed to be getting a fresh start, but things have started off terribly.

During Thursday’s training camp with the New York Jets, the embattled quarterback was in the midst of running drills.

Fields ran one play, which was an incompletion. He stood up, sat down, then stood up again.

He would limp off the field. Trainers would soon tend to him on the sidelines as they removed his shoe and worked on him on the table.

Clearly, that was not enough, and soon, a cart would come out to retrieve him and take him back to the locker room.

Fields looked better for the Steelers in 2024 than he did in the first three years of his career with the Chicago Bears. In 10 games, he completed a career-best 65.8% of his passes for 1,106 yards, with five touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 289 yards and five touchdowns on 62 carries.

2025 Is An Important Year For Justin Fields

Justin Fields is set to begin a new chapter in his NFL career with the New York Jets. After looking good early in the season last year as the starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Fields ended up back on the bench when Russell Wilson returned from injury.

Heading into free agency, the Jets prioritized him and signed him to a two-year, $40 million contract.

Now, he is being given a chance to be a legitimate starting quarterback in the NFL, and he’s still young enough to be a long-term option.
