The New York Jets appear to be lost in their search for a new quarterback. The Justin Fields experiment failed in 2025, but the picture looked promising after they secured the No. 2 pick in the 2026 NFL draft.

When everybody thought Oregon’s Dante Moore would declare for the draft, the quarterback announced he would return to college after leading his team to the CFP semifinals. The decision left the Jets with few options to address their quarterback situation.

After Fernando Mendoza, it seems like the offensive talent drops. However, they could see the light at the end of the tunnel with a veteran quarterback.

Tua Tagovailoa Linked With Move To The New York Jets

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report predicted in a recent piece that the New York Jets wouldn’t have to look further to land their new quarterback. Ballentine sees the “Gang Green” landing the Miami Dolphins’ play caller, Tua Tagovailoa, in the offseason.

Trade details: Jets acquire: QB Tua Tagovailoa, 2027 second-round pick, salary compensation
Dolphins acquire: 2027 fifth-round pick

Tagovailoa played 14 games in the 2025 season before Mike McDaniel benched him for rookie Quinn Ewers to close out the season. The Alabama product went 260 of 384 for 2,660 yards and 20 touchdowns with 15 interceptions.

The left-handed quarterback has been under heavy criticism for his lack of improvement in recent years. He had a terrific 2023 season, but things have gone sideways after that. The Dolphins will have a new head coach for 2026, and Tagovailoa will likely be out of their plans.
