Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets
Good morning Gang Green Nation! The pads came on yesterday at New York Jets practice yesterday and the hitting started. There were a number of new developments, some good, some not so good. In the good category, Justin Fields, who dislocated a toe recently, was back practicing in full after just a couple of days. That’s excellent news.
On the not so good side of the ledger, 24 year old running back Zach Evans retired. It’s a harsh world in NFL camps, and not everybody has a happy ending. Hopefully Evans will find another calling shortly. Also on the not so good front, UDFA rookie center Gus Hartwig appeared to suffer a knee injury. The extent of the injury was unknown yesterday, but we should get more information shortly. Hartwig faced an uphill battle to make the Jets roster out of training camp, and any missed time will make that all the more difficult. Hopefully the young man will be back shortly.
Finally, a little bit of good and a little bit of bad. The Jets had old friend Nick Folk in for a workout yesterday. The 40 year old kicker has been extremely accurate in recent years, and it is a bit of a surprise he remains unsigned. A reunion with the Jets might be a very good thing. On the other hand, the Jets seemed to be hoping that at least one of their two rookie kickers would emerge as a great option. Folk’s workout probably hints that the Jets’ hopes on that front are waning a bit.
