Good morning Gang Green Nation! In recent months there has been ongoing speculation that Garrett Wilson will ask the New York Jets to trade him, and the Jets may comply. It’s no secret Wilson has grown disenchanted as the losses have piled up in his tenure with the Jets. However, even if Wilson is unhappy, it doesn’t necessarily follow that he will be traded. Certainly, if Wilson decides to go the nuclear route and make a nuisance of himself on social media, in the news, and with the team, at some point the Jets might say enough is enough and decide to move on. But we are a long way from that point. One thing to bear in mind is that if Wilson is traded, and, as widely assumed, Davante Adams does not return in 2025, then the Jets passing weapons cupboard will be utterly bare. It seems unlikely the Jets want to go into the 2025 season with whomever they can find in the draft, maybe a free agent signing, and the dregs on the current roster as their primary passing weapons. Neither the 2025 NFL draft nor the free agent class is particularly deep with top end talent. We’ll see how this develops, but for now, Garrett Wilson remains under Jets control for at least the next three seasons if the Jets so choose. It will probably take a major, sustained Wilson tantrum, or a surprisingly massive trade offer, to change that.
