Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets
Good morning Gang Green Nation! Rumors are making the rounds that Aaron Rodgers may return to the New York Jets next season. The rumors are couched in vague language, saying both sides are open to the possibility. That’s a long way from an actual reunion. However, if a reunion were to occur, I’ll just say this. Aaron Rodgers and the Jets went 1-6 against playoff teams last season. The last two games he played against playoff teams, when he was supposedly “finishing the season strong,” the Jets scored 9 points against the Los Angeles Rams and 0 points while Rodgers was on the field against the Buffalo Bills. Overall the Jets averaged 13 points per game against playoff teams with Rodgers under center. Rodgers will turn 42 years old next season, an age where there is just one quarterback in all of NFL history who has been a well above average performer: Tom Brady. He has suffered significant injuries that have hampered his play each of the last three seasons, and in 2023 he missed all but four snaps. Rodgers hasn’t played well since the 2021 season, four long years in the past by the time the 2025 season is completed. If running that back is actually the way the new regime wants to begin their tenure with the Jets, it would be a troubling sign that they may not be up to the task at hand.
