Good morning Gang Green Nation! The New York Jets ushered in a new era of Jets football yesterday when they hired former Jets cornerback and Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as head coach. Many people are saying a lot of nice things about Aaron Glenn. That happens a lot when a new head coach is hired. However, until Glenn actually takes the reins and starts coaching the Jets, nobody knows anything. Head coach is a very different job than defensive coordinator, and Glenn has never been a head coach. Maybe he’ll be great. Maybe he’ll be awful. Maybe he’ll be middling. We just don’t know.
Glenn’s success or lack thereof will depend on, among other things, whomever is hired as the new general manager, as well as the rest of the coaching staff Glenn brings in. Those decisions should happen fairly quickly, and we’ll start to get a better idea about how this whole new regime will look. In the meantime, we can only hope for the best and brace for the worst. It’s a new regime, and for now, any outcome is possible.
