While there’s been some improvement as of late, the New York Jets‘ season has been a disaster. Of course, that’s to be expected when hiring a first-time head coach like Aaron Glenn, especially when the Jets don’t have a proven starting quarterback.
After their latest loss, a 48-20 embarrassment, the Jets now sit at 3-11 and are in line to land the fifth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. New York is bad at everything, ranking 27th in scoring and 30th in points allowed.
On Monday, the Jets realized they had finally had enough after another ugly debacle. Thus, the Jets have fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. Coach Glenn has promoted former NFL defensive back Al Harris to fill the team’s defensive coordinator role for the rest of the season. Harris had been working as the Jets’ defensive backs coach.
Coach Glenn announced he relieved DC Steve Wilks of his duties.

Harris has been working as a coach in some form since 2012, when he joined the Miami Dolphins as an intern. Yet, if Harris performs well, it’s possible Glenn will keep him on as the team’s defensive coordinator for 2026.
As for Wilks, he’ll have to find a new organization to work with next season. Yet, that shouldn’t be difficult for a coach who’s been in the industry since 1995.
