New York Jets fans are once again facing a dark night of the soul as reports out of Gang Green training camp indicate that starting quarterback Justin Fields was carted off the field with a leg injury. The Jets signed Fields earlier this year to be their starting quarterback this season after releasing Aaron Rodgers.

During practice at the Jets’ training facility in Florham Park, New Jersey, Jets beat reporters shared the news that Justin Fields had to be carted off the practice field with an apparent leg injury, sending Jets fans spiraling.

Luckily for the Gang Green faithful, a report from Eric Allen — the “head of news strategy” for the Jets — says that head coach Aaron Glenn revealed that Fields suffered a toe injury, as he believes it was stepped on.

“Honestly just burn the franchise to the ground or move them somewhere else. Free those of us who have been born into rooting for this cursed team,” one distraught Jets fan said.

“This doesn’t happen as consistently to any other franchise in sports,” another added.

“Woody Johnson – good job on the locker room. Next year, hire an exorcist,” a third suggested.

Get Up! host Mike Greenberg, the longtime face of tortured New York Jets fandom at ESPN, was live on-air when the news broke and was able to react to it in realtime.

“We’re back on Get Up. I am speechless. I don’t know how to put into words how frustrating I am, or frustrated I am to read to you what I’m about to read to you. From New York Jets training camp, quarterback Justin Fields has been carted off the field and taken to the locker room after being pressured on an incomplete pass. He has an apparent leg injury. He walked on his own power after getting back inside the facility,” Greenberg reported.

“The tone of all the tweets I am seeing from the people who are there make it sound like this is something bad. And I turn to others to speak on my behalf, because quite candidly, if I were to speak right now, I don’t know how well that would go for anyone. It is the first freaking day of practice, they aren’t even in pads, and Justin Fields is being carted off the field,” Greenberg said.
