The New York Giants showed fight early but couldn’t hold off San Francisco’s second-half surge, falling 34–24 to the 49ers on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The Giants have lost three straight games and are now 2-7.
Jaxson Dart led the Giants to an opening-drive touchdown, connecting with tight end Theo Johnson for a 15-yard score, but New York’s offense cooled off after that. Dart later added a 6-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 27–17, before Christian McCaffrey’s late score sealed the win for San Francisco. With minutes left Dart closed the gap a tad more with a 24-yard touchdown pass to Gunner Olszewski cutting the deficit to 34-24.
Mac Jones threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns, while McCaffrey totaled 106 rushing yards and a receiving touchdown. Rookie linebacker Abdul Carter gave Big Blue a spark defensively, recovering a fumble forced by Brian Burns just before halftime, but the Giants couldn’t capitalize missing a field goal as time expired in the half.
New York’s offense continued to take hits, losing center John Michael Schmitz (shin) and wideout Beaux Collins (neck) during the game. Still, Dart managed 191 passing yards and led the team in rushing with 56 yards.
The 49ers improve to 6–3.
