Humphrey’s release apparently didn’t last long

Is Lil’Jordan Humphrey going to be this season’s version of Jakob Johnson?

Johnson, now a member of the Houston Texans, was involved in 11 Giants transactions between Aug. 16 and Oct. 30 of last season.

Humphrey, signed as a free agent in March, was released on Friday as the Giants needed roster space to make room for their undrafted free agent signings. The 27-year-old wide receiver is reportedly being re-signed by the Giants.

In six NFL seasons, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Humphrey has played for the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and Denver Broncos. He caught a career-high 31 passes for the Broncos last season.

Five of the 13 undrafted players the Giants signed were wide receivers.

Humphrey had originally signed a $1.245 million veteran salary benefit contract.

Humphrey would give the Giants 88 signed players on their 90-man roster plus four unsigned draft picks — Abdul Carter, Jaxson Dart, Darius Alexander, and Cam Skattebo.
