New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll abruptly ended Thursday’s OTA practice over violence.

Thursday’s OTA practice ended with a full-scale fight that included punches being thrown. Tempers reportedly flared between left tackle James Hudson and edge rusher Brian Burns, who escalated from shoving to squaring up to fight before teammates separated them and coaches sent them to the sideline.

Things hadn’t calmed down, and one play later, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Jermaine Eluemunor were tangled up.

Thibodeaux swung at Eluemunor, and the sidelines emptied, with Hudson and Burns continuing their altercation.

Bodies wound up on the ground. With temperatures soaring upwards of 90 degrees, players began to get testy after two hours on the field.

It’s unclear if any of the punches connected, but it was a reckless scene for the New York Giants to end the practice.

The fighting occurred during the portion of practice that was off-limits for recording, and it’s unlikely the Giants will share the video on their social media accounts.

“Competitive part of practice,” quarterback Russell Wilson said. “Things happen.”

Burns was scheduled to speak with reporters after practice, but after the altercation, he chose not to, likely to avoid multiple questions about the fighting.

Training camp fights are common, but this type of activity is somewhat rarer during OTAs.

The New York Giants Are Also Trying To Fight Playing Terribly During The Season

The New York Giants were fighting during OTAs, and the head coach ended the day because of it.

The Giants were 3-14 in 2024 and finished at the bottom of the NFC East division.

That marked a significant downturn for the team, including a franchise-record 10-game losing streak.

With Russell Wilson at quarterback, the team hopes there will be a light at the end of the tunnel in 2025.
