In yet another tragic twist in the story, a newly released video seemingly exonerates former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy, who died of suicide earlier this year while facing charges of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run with death, and reckless operation of a vehicle.

Lacy, a projected top 50 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, was alleged to have caused a traffic accident on Dec. 17, 2024 that that killed a former Marine and injured two others.

Louisiana police claimed that Lacy “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone” in his 2023 Dodge Charger south, causing the crash before speeding away from the scene and failing to report his involvement to police.

The incident all but eliminated Lacy’s hopes of being selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, and he tragically took his own life just months after being charged.

Now, his family and lawyers are pushing back, and the evidence is hard to ignore.

New Video Clears Up Kyren Lacey’s Involvement In Fatal Accident

Lacy’s attorney, Matt Ory, gave a wide-ranging interview on local news station HTV10 on Friday. The interview also included security camera footage of the collision, which seemingly refutes the description of the accident that police provided.

“At the time of impact, (Kyren Lacy) is 72.6 yards behind the vehicles… that is NOT how this story was ever painted.” https://t.co/g8ObauC8mj pic.twitter.com/EA1ZrZugbG

Orey claims that the video shows Lacy was 72.6 yards behind the vehicles at the time of the crash, given the speed at which he was travelling. Lacy’s car can be seen approaching and driving around the accident after it had already taken place.

“That is not how this story was painted. Never,” Ory said.

Ory also discussed further findings that he claims would have been presented in court, including body camera footage of a Louisiana State Trooper interviewing a witness at his home. The man’s testimony on camera directly contradicts the written report, which implicated Lacy as the cause of the crash.
