A mistake by the Pittsburgh Steelers’ medical staff may have led to star edge rusher TJ Watt landing in the hospital.
On Thursday, news broke that TJ Watt had to be hospitalized after experiencing lung discomfort during Wednesday’s practice. Watt’s status for the Steelers’ pivotal ‘Monday Night Football’ clash with the Miami Dolphins is up in the air.
In a stunning update, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Watt’s injury happened “during treatment at the team facility.” Further details aren’t precise, but this suggests that it may have been a mistake from the Steelers’ medical staff that caused him to be hospitalized.

The Steelers enter Week 15 with a 7-6 record, one game ahead of the 6-7 Baltimore Ravens for the AFC North division lead. The Ravens visit Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
At any rate, TJ Watt’s health and well-being are the main concerns here. Let’s hope he makes a speedy recovery and returns to the field as soon as possible.
Per Pro Football Reference, Watt has seven sacks and three forced fumbles this season.
As stunning as it is to believe, the Steelers have yet to win a single playoff game since TJ Watt’s rookie year in 2017. Of course, they also wouldn’t be a consistent postseason team without the All-Pro edge rusher.
Mike Tomlin’s Steelers seemingly hit rock bottom when they fell 26-7 to the Buffalo Bills at home two weeks ago. Angry Steelers fans chanted “Fire Tomlin”, and some local media members called for a coaching change as well.
But the Steelers made a statement with their road win in Baltimore on Sunday, putting them in the driver’s seat for the AFC North. Winning the division means a home playoff game for Pittsburgh, so this just might be the year they end the playoff win drought.
