Shedeur Sanders has been hailed as “the most accurate QB the Browns have seen in 10+ years” now that he’s begun training with the team.

Sanders was a fifth-round pick by Cleveland after one of the most surprising NFL Draft slides in recent memory, but certain sources say he has jumped third-round pick Dillon Gabriel in the pecking order and now has his eyes set on that starting role.

The former Colorado Buffaloes star started minicamp with the Browns last week and is considered one of the most impressive rookies so far.

According to NFL Notifications, “The only time a Shedeur Sanders ball hit in the ground all rookie minicamp is when the receiver dropped it.”

Both rookies will probably be given opportunities when the Browns begin preseason affairs. They will open against the Panthers on August 8 and are also scheduled to play defending Champions, the Eagles, and the Rams, before their home opener against the Bengals.

Shedeur Sanders Not The Better Rookie QB, According To Notable Source

While some sources claim Shedeur Sanders has been the better QB, others have vaunted Dillon Gabriel as the top rookie.

ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi claims Gabriel is the better of the two in his minicamp evaluation, which he says isn’t a knock on Sanders but more of a nod to Gabriel.

“I thought both days Dillon Gabriel looked a little bit better,” Grossi said. “He throws a tight spiral. He throws a beautiful ball.

He added:

“He’s very assertive. He knows the pocket, you can tell that, even though they’re not rushing. He just has a pocket presence. Better arm strength than I thought. … The numbers are the only thing that don’t lie. You can say he’s short. He’s 5-foot-11. So, he’s short. I thought Gabriel was a little better both days. Doesn’t mean Shedeur Sanders is a bust or anything. The other guy just looks better.”

The rookies will compete for the starting role with veteran Joe Flacco and former Pittsburgh Steelers starter Kenny Pickett. Deshaun Watson won’t be in the running as he’s working his way back from Achilles surgery.
