Shedeur Sanders is one of the most popular 23-year-olds in America, but that hardly means everyone knows him or would immediately recognize him. One Ohio cop didn’t know who he was, even after scanning his ID.

Shedeur is the son of former NFL superstar and current Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders and is looking to forge his own stardom in the NFL.

Of course, it doesn’t exempt him from getting tickets if he’s speeding, although one would expect the name to jump out at a policeman once he sees it.

That was not the case on June 6 after Shedeur was pulled over in Medina County, Ohio, for driving at 91 mph in a 65 mph zone.

In case you’re thinking we got the number wrong and the Cleveland Browns rookie was going 10 miles faster, this is an entirely different incident. Shedeur has actually been pulled over twice since joining the Browns.

Trooper Fails To Make Connection Between Shedeur Sanders And Mississippi

The trooper who was asking the questions wondered why Shedeur was carrying a Mississippi identification card.

“What’s with the Mississippi ID?” he asked.

Shedeur tried explaining that he played football in Jackson, but the other trooper pointed out that his colleague had no idea who he was.

“He doesn’t know who you are,” he said.

“Oh. Sanders. Gotcha,” the other officer said as he finally came to the realization.

He still went ahead and gave him a citation that required him to be in court on June 16. Shedeur did not appear; instead, he made things worse by getting pulled over again for driving even faster the following day.

This time around, the police did recognize him, but he was still ticketed and given a July 3 court date.

Cleveland.com has quoted a source claiming the QB is “taking care of the tickets.”
