The New England Patriots have been one of the biggest surprises of the 2025 NFL season, and their standout offense is a big reason why.
New England ranks seventh in the league scoring (26.3 PPG), 12th in total offense (350.4 YPG), and ninth in the league in passing offense (238.3 YPG).
While second-year quarterback Drake Maye has been a catalyst for the impressive improvement year-over-year, he’s also had some help from an emerging wide receiver group.
One of those wide receivers in 2023 sixth-round pick Kayshon Boutte. Boutte, has just 23 receptions, but he’s averaging 18.7 yards per catch and has scored five touchdowns. He ranks second in the league behind only Alec Pierce of the Indianapolis Colts in yards per reception.
But now it appears he may be facing some time on the sidelines
Boutte left Sunday’s 24-23 victory over the Atlanta Falcons with a hamstring injury. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel told members of the media that he would be “day-to-day” with the injury.
But as it turns out, we didn’t need Vrabel’s confirmation.

Boutte took to his own private Discord server on Monday and gave details on the extent of his injury.
“@Everyone, just got the the MRI results back, it’s only a grade 1 sprain so that’s a good thing. “*(I) shouldn’t be down too long but we(‘re) working to get back. It’s a a possibility I play Sunday in Tampa depending on how I’m feeling but if not then hopefully I’m good for the Jets on TNF. I’ll keep y’all updated. Just know I’m working to get it stronger and come back better.”
On one hand, it’s extremely cool that Boutte is so interactive with his fans. On the other, I can’t imagine the Patriots are super happy about him being so forthright about his injury information.
And in a world where insider gambling has become rampant in professional sports, the NFL probably won’t love players disclosing injury information on private channels.
Boutte did nothing wrong here. At least, not that we know of. But I wouldn’t expect this sort of thing to continue in the future.
