The New England Patriots are one of a handful of teams receiving backlash for the creative decisions they made with their 2025/26 schedule announcement video. For their video, the Pats recruited Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy.

In Indianapolis, for example, the Colts deleted their Minecraft-themed schedule announcement video after receiving some heat for portraying Tyreek Hill’s encounter with authorities.

While the New England Patriots have not deleted their Portnoy video, it’s certainly sparked a variety of reactions on social media, with many pointing out that, regardless of your feelings about him and his company, it’s a pretty low-brow move for a billion-dollar global NFL franchise.

“Regardless of your feelings on Barstool it’s pretty unacceptable in today’s times to have your schedule release video be a guy who doesn’t know how to say your OC’s name reading a piece of paper for 5 mins when other teams are producing short films,” one fan replied.

“5 minutes of bulletin board material for the teams on the Patriots schedule,” another NFL fan joked.

“Kinda weird for the patriots official account to post this s——- on all the other teams in the league right ? feels not normal for a professional team and not something Vrabel would love…. but either way pats 17-0,” a Pats fan reasoned.

Definitely not a bad omen at all https://t.co/yTMe9O2w4S

Funnily enough, Portnoy was actually one of two Barstool Sports personalities to feature in an NFL announcement video yesterday, as former Super Bowl-winning head coach Jon Gruden, who now works at Barstool, appeared in the Bucs’ video.

As for the Patriots schedule, their 2025 slate — following a season in which they finished last in the AFC East and fired head coach Jerod Mayo, replacing him with Mike Vrabel — is as follows:

Home against the Las Vegas Raiders, at the Miami Dolphins, home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, home against the Carolina Panthers, at the Buffalo Bills, at New Orleans Saints, at Tennessee Titans, home against the Cleveland Browns, home against the Atlanta Falcons, at the Tampa Bay Bucs, home against the New York Jets, at the Cincinnati Bengals, home against the New York Giants, home against the Buffalo Bills, at the Balitmore Ravens, and at the New York Jets.
