Mike Vrabel is preparing to lead the New England Patriots into a Divisional Round game. And the hope is that he won’t encourage them to take sips from his flask.
Vrabel is definitely no saint. Cameras recently caught him telling one of his star players to “shut the f**k up.”
He was also caught blurting out a vulgar statement while running the score up on the New York Jets a few weeks ago.
According to Ty Law, a former teammate of Vrabel in New England, the current head coach was the “party starter” during their playing days.
The five-time Pro Bowl cornerback and three-time Super Bowl champion also revealed that Vrabel kept alcohol in his locker, which he shared with everyone before practice.
“Mike Vrabel was the party starter… Mike Vrabel always had the liquor… [He’d] take a drink, take a shot before we go out there and get warmed up,” Law recalled during a recent interview. “ Vrabel had a flask in his locker… Everybody would come take a sip.”
He would go on to point out that players wouldn’t be able to have teammates sip from their flasks nowadays due to COVID-19. But it was pretty safe to do back then.
It’s also definitely not hard to imagine this being a young Mike Vrabel.
