New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs is under scrutiny following news regarding serious criminal accusations.
Diggs is facing charges of strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery. It’s alleged that this took place on December 2 in Dedham, Massachusetts.
Not much is known at the moment. The player’s legal team is looking to keep the details confidential, although they insist he’s innocent.
One of his attorneys, David Meier, told TMZ the accusations are fabricated, noting it involved an “employee” of Diggs. He added that the dispute was over money.
The employee in question, a female, hasn’t been identified, but it is believed to have been a personal chef. She was reportedly hired by the NFL star in July and was allowed to live at his home.
The police report notes that Diggs allegedly slapped and attempted to choke the woman, then threw her on a bed. The altercation stemmed from unpaid wages.

Diggs’ lawyers insist he’s innocent, while his team has said that they’re behind him.
The NFL has also released a statement regarding the claims and resulting charges.
This all comes to light on the same day Stefon’s brother, Trevon Diggs, was released by the Dallas Cowboys.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that the NFC East team would be cutting the cornerback, who will go through waivers and become a free agent. The Cowboys are reportedly expected to save around $6 million against the cap as a result of the move.

The CB has endured a strange season. He suffered a concussion at home back in October. He claimed it was the result of getting hit in the head while trying to mount a television.
Diggs recently shared a video of the setup he claims caused his injury.
He missed multiple games before returning to play two games in December and is now released.
