Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and All-Pro returner KaVontae Turpin was arrested over the weekend and charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a firearm. New details have now emerged about what led to the arrest.
According to an Allen Police Department incident report obtained by TMZ, officers pulled Turpin over at around 11:49 PM on Saturday in Texas after he was clocked going 97 mph in a 70 mph zone.

The Allen Police Department then pulled over Turpin’s 2022 Dodge. When officers approached the vehicle, they said they saw an unholstered 9mm pistol “in plain view” in the back of the car. During a search of the vehicle, law enforcement found less than two ounces of marijuana in the center console.
Turpin was then booked into the Collin County Jail on charges of marijuana possession (less than two ounces) and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Both are misdemeanor charges, and he was released from custody on Sunday after posting a $1,500 bond.
