A new favorite has emerged in the Shedeur Sanders sweepstakes, with the NFL Draft just two days away.

The New Orleans Saints, who need a quarterback given Derek Carr’s injury situation, had been the betting favorites to land the Colorado star for several weeks, but a new team sits atop the list heading into Night 1 of the upcoming selection period.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have jumped ahead as the favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook, with the Saints dropping to No. 4.

The Steelers are now +310 to draft Shedeur, with the New York Giants in second place at +350 and the Cleveland Browns behind in third at +360.

Pittsburgh had two starting-caliber QBs in their ranks last season, with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson both playing significant roles. However, the players have since moved on, and the team is now actively searching for a new face for their QB room.

Aaron Rodgers has been their target for most of the free agency period, but the veteran has made them wait and is likely looking to see what happens in the draft because of Kirk Cousins’ negative experience with the Atlanta Falcons last year.

Mike Tomlin Praises Shedeur Sanders’ Toughness In Pre-Draft Press Conference

Sanders, meanwhile, set tongues wagging after taking a top-30 visit with the Steelers this April, as there’s been talk of him slipping down the board and Pittsburgh picking him if he’s still available at No. 21.

Head coach Mike Tomlin spoke about the Colorado star in a pre-draft press conference this week and praised his toughness.

“There’s a toughness there that doesn’t get talked about enough,” Tomlin remarked, per Sports Illustrated. “The intangible qualities displayed on tape were very impressive to me.”

Tomlin also noted that he shares a personal relationship with Shedeur’s father, Deion Sanders, but that never came up in their discussions.

“I’ve obviously known his father for a long time, [but] it was my first time meeting [Shedeur], and to be quite honest with you, we didn’t talk a whole lot about my relationship with his father,” he said.

Sanders registered 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns for the Buffs last season, also throwing 10 INTs. He completed an impressive 74 percent of his passes and earned a QBR of 75.5.
