A new NFL rumor revealed that the Buffalo Bills did put a first-round pick on the table in a pair of blockbuster trades, but both deals were shut down for different reasons.

Heading into Week 10, the Bills are tied for the third-best record in the league (6-2) and again are viewed as serious Super Bowl contenders this season. It made sense if they tried to improve a roster that could use some more pieces for the second half. But Tuesday’s deadline passed without a trade from Buffalo.

However, the Bills’ quiet deadline was not due to a lack of trying, according to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero. He claims sources informed him they made attempts for “multiple big targets” before the trade deadline this week. One of the players they tried to land was former New York Jets star defensive lineman Quinnen Williams.

They allegedly offered a first-round pick for him. However, instead of trading Williams inside the division, New York sent him to the Dallas Cowboys for a first-rounder, a second-rounder, and Mazi Smith.

Bills attempted trade for Jaylen Waddle?

Williams was not the only game-changer talent the Bills attempted to acquire from inside the division. Pelissero revealed that they also had conversations with the Miami Dolphins about talented receiver Jaylen Waddle.

The Bills allegedly made the best offer among the teams that inquired about a trade. Buffalo’s offer reportedly included a first and third-round pick. However, Miami wanted a first-rounder in April, not in 2027. That is the reason why a deal never got close, and the Dolphins instead held on to the 26-year-old receiver.

Waddle would have given Buffalo the true No. 1 receiver they have lacked for the rest of the season. Plus, he is signed for two more seasons. It is why they were likely open to giving up a first-rounder in a deal.
