Robert O’Neill, one of the members of SEAL Team SIX who took part in the operation to kill Osama Bin Laden in 2011, has recalled the sinister epiphany involving the Washington Commanders he had before the mission.
The former Navy SEAL flew to Afghanistan before heading to Pakistan with the team and killing the al-Qaeda founder after he was located in a compound in Abbottabad.
O’Neill was a recent guest on OutKick’s ‘The Ricky Cobb Show’ and revealed he had a pretty dark thought pertaining to the team and the upcoming NFL Draft as he was hoping Washington, then the Redskins, would draft an offensive tackle but realized he might not even be alive by then.
"It doesn't matter to me I guess, I'm gonna be dead next week"

“I remember watching the NFL draft. And I was on a treadmill, thinking that the [Washington] Redskins needed an offensive tackle,” he recalled.
“Then I realized, ‘It doesn’t matter for me, I guess. I’m gonna be dead next week’.”
As it turned out, the operation was successful, while the Commanders ended up drafting a stud in Ryan Kerrigan.
A four-time Pro Bowler, Kerrigan played for the team for 10 years before moving to the Philadelphia Eagles. He currently works as an assistant linebackers and pash rush specialist coach with Washington.
So it was a win on both fronts for O’Neill, who is obviously still very much alive.
Robert O’Neill should be very happy with the state of the Washington Commanders right now. The team’s new ownership has turned things around in just over a year, with their decision to draft Jayden Daniels paying off handsomely.
The NFC East team made it as far as the championship game with their rookie quarterback but fell in a loss to the Eagles, who have since gone on to win the Super Bowl.
