Myles Garrett has downplayed his upcoming clash with Mason Rudolph and what it might represent.
The Cleveland Browns defensive end is chasing the NFL’s single-season sack record and could possibly get it against Rudolph on Sunday.
The Pittsburgh Steelers would clinch the AFC North if the Baltimore Ravens lose to the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night. Should that be the case, Aaron Rodgers could sit out on Sunday.
And it would mean Garrett could potentially make history playing against Rudolph.
Asked what it would mean to him, the defensive star suggested that there’s nothing to it.
“I don’t think there’s a lot of history between the two of us,” he said. “But whether I get it against him, I get it against Aaron, it makes no difference to me as long as I get it.”

It appears Myles would have us believe that he wasn’t the one who ripped the quarterback’s helmet off and hit him in the face with it back in 2019. He would also have us believe he didn’t get suspended for the remainder of that season.
The Browns’ All-Pro DE accused Rudolph of calling him a racial slur, something the latter denied. They have since moved on, speaking and shaking hands two years later after a game in 2021.
Meanwhile, Myles Garrett is on 22 sacks for the season. One more would see him break the 22.5-sack record set by Michael Strahan and tied by J.J. Watt the same year that handshake occurred.
“It’d be special,” Garrett said. “He’s legendary himself and it’s a legendary record I’m out here chasing. That’d be a great one to put a picture on the wall with.”
