Myles Garrett has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns. He announced his desire to be dealt in a message to the fanbase.

While he’s made his plan public regarding his NFL future, the organization is pushing back. The Browns reportedly have no intentions to trade their defensive superstar.

Garrett is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year fresh off a 14-sack campaign in which he recorded a league-best 22 tackles for loss. The lineman’s spent each of his first eight professional seasons in Cleveland after being drafted by the franchise in 2017. Now, he’s looking for a change.

In making that announcement, he took a veiled shot at GM Andrew Berry. Previously, the general manager had insisted that Myles Garrett would have a direct path “from Cleveland to Canton,” suggesting that he’d never play for another NFL team before being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Garrett says that was never his plan. He wants to win a title, a goal that’s evaded him during his time with the organization.

The Browns have made the playoffs just twice since 2003. They’re one of just four NFL franchises never to have won a Super Bowl.

“The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton. It has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.”

While he fully intends to find a new home, recent reports claim the Browns aren’t looking to make a deal. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network broke the situation down on Monday.

“The Browns are sticking to their stance and do not intend to have any conversations or trade [Myles] Garrett,” he said in an interview. It’s only added to the drama surrounding the trade request.

With that being said, plenty of teams will be interested in adding the pass rusher to their rosters. At first look, the Detroit Lions are the favorite to land his services.

Time will tell how this situation plays out. Cleveland doesn’t want to trade their top player. Myles Garrett clearly wants out. The Browns would have plenty of trade suitors should they change their minds. We’ll soon see whether the sides reconcile or split.
