Cleveland Browns All-Pro edge rusher Myles Garrett sent a blunt message to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Tuesday. He hopes to give the 41-year-old QB a warm welcome.
“Good opportunity to put him in the graveyard,” Garrett told Cleveland reporters.
Garrett has sacked 31 quarterbacks during his career and he showed that by decorating his house for Halloween with tombstones featuring their names.
Garrett is not shy to speak his mind, that’s for sure. Last season, Garrett said there wasn’t a doubt in his mind that he should win NFL DPOY for the second consecutive year.
“Why? Go check the tape. That’s why,” Garrett said confidently to the Cleveland media.
Garrett felt like he was having a better year than his Defensive Player of the Year campaign in 2023.
“I feel like I faced much more difficult odds this year, and offenses have done quite a lot to try to take me up the game and made it blatantly obvious,” Garrett said. “But I feel like the guys around me have really helped me thrive as much as I have at this point. Just got to continue to add on to what I’ve done with this last game. But I couldn’t have done it without all the guys with me, the other 10.”
Rodgers showed he can still play good football last year with the New York Jets, throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The Steelers are hoping for a Brett Favre-like 2009 season from Rodgers.
Playing in the rough and tumble AFC North will be a new challenge for the 41-year-old quarterback. His debut in the division will be on Oct. 12 against Garrett and the Browns at Acrsiure Stadium. Garrett would love nothing more than to put the future Hall of Fame QB on his back.
