Pittsburgh Steelers’ AFC North foe in Cleveland saw their star defender, Myles Garrett, get cited for excessive speeding on Saturday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were not the only AFC North team to give their best defender a hefty pay raise this offseason. The Cleveland Browns provided their star EDGE defender, Myles Garrett, with a big-time four-year deal. However, a few years removed from his accident, Garrett was reportedly cited for excessive speeding this past week.

#Browns Myles Garrett cited at 2:01 a.m. Saturday for going 100 mph in a 60 mph zone in Strongsville after the team landed from Charlotte. He had vowed to slow down after flipping his Porsche. The team is aware.

Garrett, who signed a four-year $160M extension this past offseason, was allegedly cited for going 100+ MPH. This occurred while traveling in a 60 MPH speed limit zone on a Cleveland interstate.

While incidents like these are not uncommon for star athletes who possess top-of-the-line vehicles, they could be a concern for Garrett. Three years ago, Garrett was fortunate to walk away with minor injuries in a scary crash.

In that 2022 crash, his vehicle flipped after reportedly going 65 in a 45 MPH zone. Both he and his passenger walked away in good health, though he had to miss the Browns’ game that following Sunday.

Though this is the first incident since that 2022 accident, WKYC reported this is at least the seventh documented speeding citation in Ohio for the All-Pro defender. Garrett’s teammate, Shedeur Sanders, who had a strong preseason debut Friday at quarterback, was also cited this offseason for excessive speeding.

Thankfully, this incident didn’t lead to any injuries or arrests. According to the Browns’ insider Mary Kay Cabot, Garrett will not need to appear in court and can pay the fine instead.

Cleveland will travel to Philadelphia for their second preseason game, scheduled for Saturday. The Steelers will host Tampa Bay the same day for their second preseason game as well.
