Multiple teams want to schedule second interviews with Broncos pass game coordinator/QB coach Davis Webb

According to the NFL Network’s league insider, Tom Pelissero, multiple teams would like to schedule second interviews with Denver Broncos pass game coordinator/quarterbacks coach Davis Webb. He has interviewed virtually with the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens, per reports, and now is being linked to the vacant Buffalo Bills head coaching job.

Due to the Broncos advancing to the AFC Championship game, these teams will have to wait another week to have an in-person second interview with Davis Webb. If the Broncos manage to advance to the Super Bowl, teams will have to wait another two weeks to officially hire him to be their next head coach.

As I mentioned previously, based on reporting, the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens were the two teams to interview Webb during this coaching cycle. So, they figure to be the two teams that are waiting to have an in-person meeting with him.

The Raiders are an interesting one because they have the number one overall pick and are expected to select Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who will be playing for a National Championship tonight for Indiana. After watching the work Webb has done with Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, it makes sense that they would want him coaching their potential top pick. Webb would also bring some new ideas, youth, and energy to that coaching staff after going with 74-year-old Pete Carroll last season.

As for the Ravens, they fired longtime head coach John Harbaugh and are looking for a coach to work with MVP winning quarterback Lamar Jackson. That offense has not lived up to expectations recently, and adding an up-and-coming coach like Webb with fresh ideas could light a spark under Jackson and get them going back in the right direction.

Another team to keep an eye on is the Buffalo Bills, who surprisingly fired Sean McDermott today. He has been connected to that job by multiple league insiders, and while he may not be the early favorite, he is someone to keep an eye on there. He has a really good relationship with quarterback Josh Allen and could be just what the Bills need to get over the hump.

Davis Webb is a former third-round selection by the New York Giants in the 2017 NFL Draft. He would play for the Giants, Jets, and Bills during his playing career before retiring after the 2022 season. After retiring, he would jump right into coaching and be hired by newly hired Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton to be his quarterbacks coach.

Sean Payton was so impressed by Webb’s interview that he called to have the car taking Webb to the airport to turn around so he could hire him on the spot. Webb quickly became a beloved and highly thought of coach for the Broncos and is a big reason for quarterback Bo Nix’s development these past two seasons. The Broncos believe he is a future head coach in the making, and now he is receiving serious interest from...
