In his Sunday press conference, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that both defensive tackle Jordon Riley and cornerback Kamal Hadden suffered season-ending injuries in the team’s Saturday night loss against the Baltimore Ravens. “Those are pretty big injuries,” LaFleur added.
Riley was signed to the Packers’ 53-man roster from the New York Giants’ practice squad following Devonte Wyatt’s season-ending ankle injury. In recent weeks, Riley has been operating as the team’s fourth defensive tackle, a role that will now likely fall on Quinton Bohanna, who was added to the team in the same week as Riley.
Riley is under contract for the 2026 season, so he should be back in Green Bay after he recovers from his injury, which is officially just given the title of “Achilles” on the Packers’ injury report.
Hadden was a player who was signed last season as depth, but actually entered Saturday’s action on defense as the team attempted to get Carrington Valentine off the field. While Valentine is a solid coverage player, he’s struggled in the tackling department, which was emphasized more than usual with the Ravens attempting (and succeeding) to pound the rock.
Hadden then left with an ankle injury and was carted off the field. Without Hadden, the Packers’ cornerback room is made up of Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine, Nate Hobbs (who left last night with an injury himself) and Bo Melton (who has only played receiver and special teams this year). To say the least, the team is thin at the position moving forward.
Green Bay already had an open roster spot on the roster, following the placement of Kristian Welch on the injured reserve on Friday. Assuming that Riley and Hadden end up going on the IR, too, the team will be able to add three more players to the 53-man roster this week. Here’s a breakdown of the Packers’ roster numbers if Riley and Hadden go on IR.
