Each year of Darnell Washington’s career, he seems to be evolving more and more as a player. In 2026, he set a new career high with 31 receptions, but it’s not just the production, it’s how he produces. When Washington gets the ball in his hands, it’s must-see TV. At 6-foot-7 and 311 pounds, he’s an absolute freight train who can run through defensive backs and create yards after contact.

To truly appreciate his value, though, you have to look beyond the receiving numbers. Washington functions as essentially an extra offensive lineman in the run game, giving Pittsburgh a physical edge at the point of attack. Now that he’s continuing to develop as a pass catcher, he creates even more stress for opposing defenses. He can help equalize numbers in the run game, leak out into the flat, or become a legitimate receiving threat. That versatility forces defenses into difficult decisions and makes him one of the more unique weapons in the NFL.

One of the best draft picks of the Omar Khan era has been Zach Frazier, especially considering Pittsburgh landed him in the second round. Over his last two seasons, Frazier has graded among the NFL’s top 10 centers according to PFF. His state championship wrestling background shows up every week with the way he uses leverage, hand placement, and body control. He already looks like a cornerstone piece of the Steelers’ offensive line and a player the franchise can build around for years to come.

Joey Porter Jr. may finally be gaining recognition among Steelers fans after his breakout 2025 campaign, but around the league he still isn’t getting the credit he deserves. Porter regularly traveled with opposing teams’ top receivers and still finished as one of the highest-graded cornerbacks in football. Despite taking on some of the toughest assignments in the league week after week, he was left out of both Pro Bowl and All-Pro consideration. What makes his value even more impressive is that he’s still on his rookie contract. In a league where elite cornerbacks are commanding top-of-market salaries, the Steelers are getting legitimate CB1 production at a fraction of the cost. He’s not only one of the team’s most important defensive players, but also one of its biggest bargains. If he continues playing at this level, the national recognition, and eventually a massive extension, will come.
